When my 14-year-old cat, Mouzer, injured her paw, I had to bring her back indoors so she could heal. That meant reintroducing something I had never liked: the litter box. Mouzer adjusted quickly—but my two dogs, Tigger and Bandit, created a problem I hadn’t anticipated. They wouldn’t leave the litter box alone. What followed was a daily cycle of frustration—cleaning up scattered litter, dealing with odors, and constantly trying to keep the dogs out. It was messy, unsanitary, and honestly… pretty disgusting. I
knew there had to be a better way. So I started experimenting.

My first “prototype” was as simple as it gets: a cardboard box with a hole cut into it and a flap of bubble wrap hanging over the entrance. It didn’t work. The dogs pushed right through it. But that failure sparked an idea. What if the solution wasn’t blocking access—but redesigning it?

I went back to the drawing board and created a second prototype: two boxes connected together, with the entrances offset at 90 degrees—forming a simple maze. The concept was intuitive. Cats could easily navigate the turns, but dogs couldn’t reach the litter box inside. And it worked.

For the first time, the dogs were completely shut out. The mess stopped. The odor was reduced. The problem was solved.

That moment changed everything. I realized this wasn’t just a personal fix—it was a solution millions of pet owners could use. So I took the next step: turning a rough idea into a real product.
I partnered with an experienced manufacturer in Dallas, Supply One (formerly Specialty Container), to refine the design into a durable, practical, and scalable product. Together, we transformed a homemade prototype into a thoughtfully engineered solution that works with standard litter pans,
reduces litter scatter, helps contain odors, and keeps dogs out—without chemicals, electronics, or complicated assembly.
